ESSAOUIRA - MARRAKECH – KSAR AIT BEN HADDOU - OUARZAZATE
We will leave early in the morning from Essaouira for Marrakech, then cross the High Atlas, Morocco's highest mountain. There will be million photo chances at panoramic views. The famed historic Kasbah of Telouet, which served as a luxurious home and the headquarters of the powerful Glaoui tribe, is the first scheduled stop.
When we eat a leisurely lunch here. The road then crosses the Ounila Valley and continues to Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco's oldest and most famous Ksar and a UNESCO World Heritage site. After touring the ksar, drive another 30 kilometers to Ouarzazate, where you will spend the night in a traditional riad.
OUARZAZATE – SKOURA OASIS – VALLEY OF ROSES – BOUTAGHRAR – DADES CANYON – TODGHA GORGE
After breakfast, you depart for the Dades Gorge, passing via the Skoura Oasis, where various historic kasbahs, some of which are unfortunately in ruins, stand among the palm palms. Our path from here takes us via Kela'a M'gouna, the Valley of Roses, which is famous for its Rose Festival in May. We stop here to examine the cosmetic items manufactured locally from the valley's abundant flowers. These goods are well-known and highly regarded throughout Morocco. You then take an off-road route to get a greater sense of the landscape. You will stop at caverns along the road, which are utilized by whatever Berber nomads decide to pass by and claim residence there. We'll share a glass of tea with them before heading to Dades Gorge for lunch.
The journey continues to Tinghir and the extremely distinct Toudgha gorges, where you will spend the night in a hotel or Kasbah.
TODGHA GORGE – ERFOUD – RISSANI - MERZOUGA
After breakfast, you can go for a walk along the river through the gardens or along the road on the opposite side of the gorges. Lunch will be served here or later at the Erg Chebbi dunes bivouac. You drive there via the Oasis of Tafilalet in Erfoud, noted for its Date Festival, and Rissani, the seat of Morocco's current king's Alaouite dynasty. You are greeted with a glass of tea before embarking on a camel ride to the top of the dunes to view the sunset. Later, dinner and a night in a nomad tent at the foot of the dunes await.
MERZOUGA - ERRACHIDIA - MEDILT - AZROU – FES
We'll get up early to enjoy the dawn over the Saharan dunes before heading back to the hotel for breakfast and a shower. Then proceed to Errachidia via Erfoud and the Ziz valley. Continue to Midelt. We will travel via Azrou's cedar trees and stop to hand feed the monkeys before departing for the Nourth across the Middle Atlas Mountains through the 1,120 m height mountain. We will proceed via Ifrane, Morocco's 'Switzerland,' arriving in Fes early evening and dropping you off at your hotel or riad.
