Day Trip To Imlil & Valleys & Berber Villages :

Imlil is ideally the best start point for all walks and strolls to the High Atlas Mountains, valleys & berber villages, the views are brilliant and the scenery amazing, regardless of levels of fitness Imlil & the surrounding are accessible to all, walking or ride a mule a pleasure of discovering the Berber hospitality and the fabulous area is a great experience that you will keep during your life time.

The Program Of The Day

Departure by 4x4 from Marrakech around 8 in the morning for 2 hours' drive south up the Moulay Brahim Gorges, Asni weekly market every Saturday, then to Imlil (1,740m), set in the upper level foothills of the Western High Atlas mountains, a main trailhead with streams and paths branching out in all directions. Here you will leave our vehicle to take a welcome glass of mint tea in the village and meet your local guide prior to setting out for some 4km excursion.

Towards the south to the Berber village of Aroumd (Armed) (1,843m), passing the hamlets of ait souka, Targa, and Imoula, up and down the stark slopes, the jagged Western High Atlas peaks of the Toubkal Massif before us - Jbels Aguelzim (3,547m), Aksouâl (3,847m) and the Adrar Adj (3,122m) watching us all the way.

There will be a stop at Aroumd to visit this rather singular village in the Assif Aït Mizane Valley, built seemingly house upon house on a large moraine spur, overlooking ancient irrigated terraced fields of barley, corn and vegetables and always surrounded by almond and walnut trees. The trek then continues for another half an hour until the stop for lunch which will be served among a berber family in the village of Achayn.

After lunch you set off back down the other side of the valley back to Imlil and the return trip to Marrakech.
