The 3 day Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour is a whirlwind trip that takes you from the vibrant city center to the contrasting tranquility of the Sahara Desert. Over the course of 3 days, you’ll journey through mountains, valleys, and canyons before reaching the golden sand dunes.
Here are the highlights About Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour:
- Travel through the High Atlas Mountains with scenic views.
- Visit Ait Ben Haddou, a historical fortified city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ksar (fortified village) has been used as a backdrop for many Hollywood films, including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.
- Explore the Todra Gorge, a natural wonder. The Todra Gorge is a series of canyons that are popular for hiking and rock climbing. The walls of the gorge rise up to 300 meters (984 ft) in some places.
- Ride camels across the desert and camp overnight under the stars. In Merzouga, you will switch to camels to ride into the desert camp where you will spend the night. In the desert, you will enjoy a traditional Berber dinner and watch the sunset over the dunes.

Marrakech - Ouarzazate – Ksar Ait Ben Haddou - Dades Canyon
We will make an early morning departure from Marrakech to cross the Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains with a short stop for coffee and a visit the argan oil cooperative. We will stop for lunch at UNESCO World Heritage site, Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, the most famous Ksar in Morocco. After lunch we will continue through the Skoura Oasis, where numerous ancient Kasbahs stand amongst the palm trees. From here, the route takes us through Kela’a M’gouna, the Valley of Roses, with a stop to see cosmetics locally made from the valley’s abundant roses. We will continue to the Dades Canyon where we will stay in a hotel by the river for the night .
Dades Canyon - Toudgha Gorges - Erfoud - Merzouga
After breakfast, starting our day driving in the dades canyon back to Boumalne dades Village, continuing to Toudgha to the very different gorges with an altitude more than 700 Meter.Lunch in the small village of Turoug. After lunch we will drive via the Oasis of Tafilalet, Erfoud and Rissani to the famous Dunes of Erg chebbi, after a welcoming glass of tea in a Guest House near the dunes, departure on the camels. Once at the bivouac, you take a camel ride to watch the sunset from the top of the dunes. Back at the bivouac, dinner and overnight in tents in the desert (an unforgettable night.)
